Ellen E. Day
Director
BrickHouse Ceramic Art Center was founded by Ellen E. Day in 2007. As Director of the Ceramics Department at the Craft Students League/YWCA-NYC, Ellen decided to open BrickHouse when the YWCA sold the building and closed their program. Ellen has created an energizing and creative learning environment in Long Island City. Ellen is a dedicated teaching professional with a B.F.A and an M.F.A. in Ceramics and a Certificate in Arts Administration. As a ceramicist, Ellen has exhibited nationally and is published in Ceramics: Mastering the Craft, Second Edition by Richard Zakin.Britt Peterson
Program Coordinator/ Instructor
Britt Peterson received her B.A in Fine Arts with a concentration in Ceramics from the University of New Hampshire. While pursuing her degree she was awarded the U.N.H Ceramics Fellowship where she studied under Maryse Searles McConnell and gained experience in studio management. Britt has served as a ceramic tech at a number of studios throughout New York City, including 92nd Street Y, and has taught both handbuilding and wheel throwing classes to children and adults. Today, Britt is happily settled at BrickHouse where she works primarily on the wheel producing high end decorative functional ware.Chris Neil
Glazing Instructor
Chris studied at the Craft Students League for over 10 years. His functional wares and delicate forms serve as a unique canvas for showcasing his striking, multi-layered glazing style. Chris' work has been exhibited at the Citicorp Center, Nippon Gallery and Elsa Mott Ives Gallery.Jhanna Kosicki
Artist in Residence
Jhanna Kosicki studied ceramics at Carleton College, where she received her B.A degree and gained knowledge on how to maintain and organize a studio. She has worked as a studio tech at Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts where she assisted artists including Jack Troy and Susan Beecher. As the current Artist-in-Residence, Jhanna continues to develop her artistic vision and techniques.
